Mayor Bryant

Darren E. Bryant is the current Mayor of the historic Village of Robbins, Illinois. First elected on April 6, 2021, and re-elected by a decisive margin on April 1, 2025,  Bryant is now serving his second four-year term. At the age of 29, he became the youngest minority mayor in Illinois state history.

Bryant’s public service career began early. At 23, he was elected Park District Commissioner and Vice President of the Robbins Park District, where he coordinated youth sports and extracurricular programs. In 2017, at the age of 25, he was elected Village Trustee, setting the stage for his historic mayoral victory.

In addition to his Mayoral duties, Bryant serves as a physical education teacher in Community High School District 218, demonstrating his continued commitment to education and youth development.

A proud alumnus of Kentucky State University (KSU), a historically Black university in Frankfort, Kentucky, Bryant earned his bachelor’s degree and, in 2021, was inducted into the university’s Distinguished Alumni Society—receiving its highest honor. He also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Governors State University.

Under Bryant’s leadership, Robbins has experienced an unprecedented wave of progress. He has spearheaded major clean-up initiatives, attracted transformative new developments, and secured more than $20 million in grant funding for the village. His leadership has earned him recognition as Southland Mayor of the Year in both 2023 and 2024.

With a second term now underway, Bryant remains focused on driving economic growth, preserving Robbins’ historic legacy, and building a resilient community.
