POSITION:                        Water Clerk

REPORTS TO:                    Front Office Manager

FLSA STATUS:                    Non-Exempt

STARTING SALARY:           negotiable (during probationary period)

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  Responsible for payment processing, cash handling and providing fast, efficient and friendly customer service.

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Posts customer payments by recording cash, checks and credit card transactions

  • Research and resolve customer account discrepancies

  • Prepare water shut-off notices to be distributed by Public Works Department

  • Manage customer accounts by verifying payment, account updates, account balances, account adjustments and  late payment fees

  • Prepare monthly billing statements

  • Answer and direct phone calls from the main switchboard to appropriate department or person

  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential

  • Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, supervisors and customers

  • Ability to effectively deal with customer service problems and or situations in a courteous and tactful manner

  • Participate in onsite and offsite educational training and other opportunities

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior accounts receivable and or cashier experience

  •  High school diploma or equivalent, some college education

  • Data Entry Skills

  • General Math Skills

  • Computer Software Experience,  LOCIS software is a plus

  • Bi-Ligual

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to accurately count, balance and post large sums of funds in a timely manner 

  • Must possess good organizational skills

  • Must have ability to follow directions and effectively perform job duties

  • Must have a pleasant personality, work well with others  and good customer service skills 

  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment

  • Must be able to work 30 hours per week 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
