Robbins Community Power

Robbins Community Power (RCP) is a state-of-the-art energy center that has   transformed what had been a waste-to-energy plant into a green fuel energy center. Clean wood chips, such as from trimmed trees and construction projects, will be used to create energy. Some of the many benefits to using wood to create energy include: it is an environmentally friendly fuel; it reduces the load on landfills; it does not increase greenhouse gases; it is a clean fuel; and, no trees are harmed to create this energy.

The Village of Robbins will significantly benefit from the creation of this facility. RCP will create millions in tax revenue for Robbins, which will greatly assist the Village in carrying out its operations. Furthermore, RCP has committed to a scholarship program that will help Robbins’ youth attend college, and the facility will create revenue for local schools.
RCP is expected to open in late 2008 or early 2009. Please visit www.robbinscommunitypower.com for additional information.

Street Reconstruction

In 2004, the Village of Robbins reconstructed 137th Street from Kedzie to Springfield, with grant funds from the State of Illinois. New sewer lines were installed, the road was reconstructed and widened, and curbs were installed.  Other streets which have been reconstructed or resurfaced in recent years include Lydia Avenue, Keeler Avenue, and 134th Place. In 2009, expect to see the resurfacing of Claire Boulevard from I-294 to Francisco Avenue. The project will include street resurfacing with curbs, gutters, and new traffic lights installed.
